It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable.įor the time will soon come when Hobbits will shape the fortunes of all. Rumor grew of a shadow in the east, whispers of a nameless fear, and the Ring of Power perceived its time had now come.īut something happened then the Ring did not intend.
Darkness crept back into the forest of the world. And in the gloom of Gollum's cave, it waited. For five hundred years, it poisoned his mind. The Ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life. The Ring came to the creature Gollum, who took it deep into the tunnels of the Misty Mountains. Until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer.
But the one ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle-Earth, it remained lost to him. History became legend, legend became myth, and for two and a half thousand years, the Ring passed out of all knowledge. The Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring.In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by the Elven-smiths, and the Dark Lord, forged the one ring, filing it with his own power so that he could rule all other. A last alliance of Men and Elves marched against the armies of Mordor, and on the slopes of Mount Doom they fought for the freedom of Middle-Earth.
One by one, the free lands of Middle-Earth fell to the power of the Ring. And into this Ring, he poured his cruelty, his malice, and his will to dominate all life. THE LORD OF THE RINGS The Fellowship of the Ring Screenplay by Fran Walsh & Philippa Boyens & Peter Jackson Based on the novels by J.R.R. For within these rings was bound the strength and will to govern each race.īut they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. I thought everything was perfect.I amar prestar aen.The world is changed. What's wrong with this movie? I have no idea. I was also very impressed by the seamless shrinking of the vertically challenged characters. The special effects were incredible, the cave troll, the balrog, Gollum, and Sauron's Eye all looked amazing. Oh, and Andy Serkis does a PERFECT Gollum voice. My hat's off to Sean Bean who delivers an excellent performance as Boromir, a character who's intentions are good but wrestles with the corrupting power of the Ring. Wood, Mortensen, Holm, Astin, everyone was fantastic. As I've read many many times in other reviews, McKellen doesn't play Gandalf, he IS Gandalf. Despite these minor changes, the screenplay stays extremely close to the book and flows very very well (and the prologue was a nice touch). I didn't mind Arwen's inflation and I'm actually glad Tom Bombadil was scrubbed (I felt Tom Bombadil was an unnecessary addition to the book). I'm not a crazed fanatic who gets worked up over every little detail. I read the Lord of the Rings very recently and I was surprised at how similar Peter Jackson's vision was to my own.
Never before have I seen a 3 hour movie that didn't seem like 3 hours.
